What is Sitemap Generator?
An XML sitemap generator creates the file that tells search engines about all the pages on your website, their relative importance, how often they change, and when they were last updated. While search engines can discover pages through links, a sitemap ensures nothing is missed — especially for new sites, large sites, pages with few incoming links, or dynamically generated content. Submitting a sitemap through Google Search Console typically speeds up indexing of new and updated content.

Why do I need a sitemap?▼
Sitemaps help search engines discover and index all your pages, especially for large or new websites.
How many URLs can one sitemap contain?▼
Up to 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed. Beyond that, split into several sitemaps and reference them from a sitemap index file, which can itself list up to 50,000 sitemaps.
Does submitting a sitemap guarantee indexing?▼
No. A sitemap helps search engines discover URLs; whether they index them depends on crawl budget and whether each page is judged worth including. It is a discovery aid, not an instruction.
Do priority and changefreq actually matter?▼
Google ignores both. It uses `lastmod` when the value is consistently accurate and demonstrably trustworthy. Setting every page to priority 1.0 and changefreq daily achieves nothing, and inaccurate `lastmod` values cause the field to be disregarded entirely.
Which URLs should I leave out?▼
Anything you do not want indexed: `noindex` pages, redirects, canonicalised duplicates, paginated or filtered variants, and pages blocked by robots.txt. Including such URLs sends contradictory signals and produces coverage warnings in Search Console.
How do search engines find my sitemap?▼
Reference it in robots.txt with a `Sitemap:` line, and submit it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. The robots.txt reference is picked up by any crawler that reads the file, so it is worth having regardless.
